MUA Luxe Velvet Lip Lacquer (Reckless)

So I've been lusting after a 'velvet' lip lacquer since I spotted Lime Crime's Velvetines, and MUA have done it again. I love their Urban Decay NAKED palette dupes and they've released a brilliant match to Lime Crime's Red Velvet shade in the colour Reckless. It's a deep red, a bit similar to my previously reviewed Rimmel's 100 Kisses Lip Tint in Perpetual Plum.

First of all, I love the packaging. These retail at a bargain £3 each in Superdrug but they look more like a high-end product. They come in a cardboard box with a list of ingredients/directions etc. leaving the actual lacquer tube expensively simple looking - the lid is a matt black with a gold signature.

The doefoot applicator allows for a precise application.

The product before drying.

A positive is that this stuff really doesn't come off - even if I found this to be a negative when testing! I had to scrub at my lips with an eye make-up remover pad to actually get it to budge. But the fab thing is is that it won't transfer to anything - teeth, drinks etc. and so, if you find that your lips are feeling a bit dry, you can apply a balm on top and still have the strong lasting colour.
It does look like a pure red in the photographs because as always, my camera picks up the light easily, however, I would say that it's a slightly darkened vibrant red. The texture is pretty strange to get used to and like I said earlier, a little drying, but that's to be expected.

L'Oreal's Extra-Volume Collagen Mascara Review
It's been a while!

I'm sorry for not posting for a while, I've had so much work to do at university that I've completely neglected reviewing!

Today's post will be based around my current favourite product - L'Oreal's Extra-Volume Collagen Mascara. I got this (as I usually end up with most of my make-up!) in one of those clearance boxes in my local Tesco, which is why I ended up with a brown shade instead of my usual black. I have to say though, the only difference is how it looks on the brush - it looks just like a black mascara on my lashes.
I've been using L'Oreal's Voluminous Mascara in Carbon Black for years because of how lovely and thick it made my lashes. The only problem being is that it seemed to dry up quickly and the brush would get easily clumped. The Collagen mascara has an AMAZING brush! I love thick brushes with lots of bristles, which was exactly what was missing from Voluminous. The texture at first was a little runny for my liking, but after about a month it seemed to settle down into a nice consistency to allow you to build up layers more easily.
The only downside to this product is that it always tends to get into my eye towards the end of the day and it stings like crazy and makes my eye run - a never ending circle!

Rimmel 1000 Kisses Lip Tint Review
My first post is a review of the Rimmel lip tints because they're probably one of my favourite products. I've had 300 Perpetual Plum for about a year now and it's still got plenty left (except the balm fell out on a night out :( ). The lip tints are £5.99 each from places such as Boots and Superdrug, but I went to the Beauty Outlet at East Midlands Outlet and managed to get my hands on two more shades - 100 Endless Blossom and 120 Timeless Tango - for just £1.99 each. The packaging of these lip tints are pretty but not purposeful. Sometimes its hard to get the top on properly - on a night out the top came off drew all over my bag! Also the lip balm is a bit fiddly and ended up falling off. The felt-tip style applicators are so easy to use and make it easy to draw on the colour like a pen however, it would have been nice if the end was a little more pointy to give more precision.
These lip tints last FOREVER! This is why I love these so much! The colours are great and stain your lips for hours. The lip balm is rich and give a great shine so your lips don't feel dry. I swatched these on my hand and after scrubbing them, they were still there the next day. Below is both the swatches and my bare lips.
I'll start with 100 Endless Blossom. I thought this shade would have been a lot lighter on my lips, but really it gave a slightly rosy pink tint to my normal lip colour.
Here is 120 Timeless Tango. This is probably the brightest shade out of the whole collection and is a bright red-pink. I actually prefer this shade to using red lipstick that usually transfers and fades quickly.
Finally is 300 Perpetual Plum which is still my favourite shade. It's a dark red shade and looks a bit brighter in the photograph than what it actually is. Below is it on it's own and then with the balm on top (which actually looks darker for some reason).

Hello :)
Seeing as this is a kinda introduction to my blog, I suppose I should introduce myself other than the standard name, age, location stuff. I'm a trainee teacher studying Primary Education at university and when I'm not on placement, I'm living in Topshop. I own far too many clothes - my wardrobe literally won't fit anymore in! I love watching soaps and I'm a secret One Direction fan. I've been to see McFly far too many times. I have a kitty called Angel and she's like my little sister; we have a love/hate relationship. This blog is (hopefully) going to have product reviews and outfits and just bloggings of everyday life. So sit back and enjoy! :)
